pp.33-34 Editorial directive to Maori that Pakeha education will convert them from the obscurity of their knowledge into people of learning, achievement and status. The Editor refers to the ancestral legends of Māui and Tāwhaki to illustrate the era that Maori exist in; prescribes education at school, cultivation of the land and harvest of its products, scraping flax fibre, weaving baskets and mats, farming livestock, constructing lofty furnished homes, and prayer.
pp.34-36 Letter to the Maori people from Te AEIOU. Reasons that if Maori abided by the Scriptures there would be no warfare, with special reference to the conflict between Te Rarawa and Ngā Puhi. Examines the consequences of disunity by example of the individual's inability to function adequately if parts of the body refuse to perform.
