A petition sent to Parliament asking the Government to curb the availability of alcohol. Lists the many evils caused by alcohol, including impoverishment, unhealthy children, adultery and muddling of men's minds.

From Te Kipihana Te Keho and six others, Ōtaki
A letter objecting to an earlier statement by Karanama and Rakapa and their tribal group claiming that their lands had been seized by Mr Booth and Wī Parata. States that these lands at Waihoanga and Wairarapa belong to the tribal groups of Ngāi Te Rangi and Ngāti Tuarā, and that these two people, Karanama and Rakapa, are trying to take land and use it to obtain money from the Government because they have wasted money they received for previous land deals.

A tribute to Te Wananga. Contains two waiata [song]. The writer states that Te Wananga is as the eyes of a blind man enabling him to see and understand.
The Editor replies, that Te Wananga does not wish to be the eyes of a blind man, but rather to encourage people to use their own eyes to read the words in the newspaper and make up their own minds.
